Tsogo Sun Arts Academy 2.7

The Tsogo Sun Arts Academy aims to make a real difference in learners’ lives, by developing artistic talent and providing life skills development to learners using disciplines such as theatre, drama, singing, musical instruments, poetry, creative arts and literature. At the same time, it supports the holistic educational framework by providing extra-curricular activities and tertiary opportunities to learners.

Arts development within the school environment was identified as an activity that is directly in line with the resources and ethos of Tsogo Sun, while also having a strong impact on the communities where the group operates. The Tsogo Sun Arts Academy programme is closely aligned with a key government priority to introduce extra-curricular activity back into schools and Tsogo Sun has worked closely with the Gauteng Department of Education as a partner in identifying schools and developing the programme and curriculum.

Tsogo Sun has commissioned Minimax Performing Arts, which has been providing young South Africans with a platform to express themselves through the performing arts for more than 12 years, to develop and run the programme in the schools with co-ordinating staff members and facilitators, who are also given ongoing training on a weekly basis.

Through this programme, it is our intention and objective to equip youngsters from communities with the knowledge, confidence and life skills necessary for them to reach their potential.
