Steps Charity NPC is a registered NPC and non-profit organisation based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Steps was founded in 2005 by Karen Moss, the mother of a child born with clubfoot, to introduce and promote the Ponseti Method of clubfoot treatment in South Africa.
The core purpose of Steps is to remove the disability caused by neglected clubfoot:
- Early diagnosis and effective treatment by the best current practice
- Access to care, including services by a health care provider trained in the method
How this will be achieved:
- Increase the number of healthcare professionals in Southern Africa trained in the Ponseti Method
- Support and inform families of babies and children with clubfoot.
- Collaborate with health practitioners to improve training and clinic facilities for clubfoot treatment
- Regular monitoring and evaluation, internal audits to assess progress and outcomes
- Increase community awareness of clubfoot diagnosis, and effective treatment
- Build capacity and sustainability through partnerships with other organisations, government, and donors.
