The Power of the Cross Ministries also known as Mgijimi in the City Revival Centre was established in 1997 by Pastor ZA Ntiwane who is Head and the overseer of the ministry.

T he first place of worship was a library building situated in the township known as Gompo, in East London in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. This Is were the Sunday services would be held and during the week a certain high school known as Lumko High school used to provide shelter for revival services.

In 1998 the Lord used the pastor mightily and lots of souls were saved and many amazing things occurred. A certain lady who happened to be a devil worshipper was captured in her attempts to kill the man of God. This was news everywhere and people began to come in numbers because it had never occurred in this area before and people here feared witches and people suspected of devil worshipping.

The man of God continued to conduct revival services in the area and the surrounding areas and many souls were being saved and the ministry was growing.

In the year 2001 while the man of God went to prayer the Lord gave the man of God, in details, the vision for his ministry and the various areas in which the Lord will use him in to impact not only the East London area but the world. He was given a vision to build a multi-functional revival centre (More detail on the VISION link).

At the same time the Lord revealed to the man of God the challenges and the wars that will precede this mighty work. These trials and tribulations would have a very bad implication to the man of God, his family and the ministry but the Lord would remain with Him all the time.

The Lord also revealed that many brethren would leave the ministry, even those close to the pastor, but God will use the few that remain to fulfil what He has placed in the pastor’s heart. The Lord also promised to increase the flock by people who will get saved through the revivals and true to His words all this happened.

The wars against the man of God escalated to the point that many of those close to him became constantly against him; refusing to tithe, causing divisions within the flock and finally hiring someone to kill the pastor. By the grace of God the pastor lived through this assassination attempt instead the would-be killer died not long after. This happened at the time the wars were even making it difficult to find a decent place of worship. The services were now being held at the pastor’s house. The saints were struggling terribly, poverty and unemployment was the order of the day. The pastor had to dig to the little he had to support them, even accommodating many of the saints in his home.

During the pass over of 2003 the pastor advised that the saints built as it was important to have a place of worship that we could call home. We built our first building, a shack, which could only accommodate 25 to 30 people. The shack served us for three years before we moved on and the war was still intense.

In 2006 the church managed to buy a big tent, as the shack couldn’t contain the number of people who were being added as the ministry was growing. The tent was pitched in Duncan Village in a place known as Mekeni. Due to the ongoing war against the man of God and his ministry the people of that area ganged up against the pitching of the tent and forced the ministry out of that place. This happened in spite of the fact that many of them were healed and delivered through the ministry of the Pastor. One such a person even shouted, amongst the crowd which came to attack the pastor and the brethren, that he was healed there however, he wants the ministry out of the area. The level of animosity from these people was terrible and unbelievable.

The church then moved on to hold its services in a certain community hall known as Eluxolweni. We continued to pitch a tent for revival services. In one such revival we pitched a tent in a place called Siya and the Lord used the pastor mightily there and many people were healed and delivered from various situations. During this time even the local pastors were against Pastor Ntiwane’s revival services because they claimed they were losing their people to the services.

God was adding numbers in the congregation and we purchased a bigger tent and pitched it in a suburban place called Braelyn again it wasn’t long before the residents pushed us away and we had to move to another place nearby known as Amalinda. God continued to raise the level of His work in such that people came from all over South Africa to receive their miracles from the Lord. People were being saved in an astronomical pace and the ministry was growing. It seemed that as the level of God’s work grew also the intensity of the war escalated proportionally. Some of Amalinda residence fought to get the tent out and they won and we were given matching orders by the police so we moved to the CDB are known as Turnbull park.

The church later bought a plot in an area known as Parkside where the church offices are now situated. The services moved from Turnbull park to the new site. It was hardly 3 months and the tent was no longer capable to contain the multitudes flocking in. The tent had to be removed and services were conducted without any shelter. It was such a moving scene. Seeing people coming and parking their expensive cars to be out in the sun, wind and rain for many hours just to attend a church service! People today no longer see it worthy to spend their quality time in the place of God, let alone a place without shelter. What about their egos, statuses, expensive designer wear and pricey hairstyles. It is only God who can do such things!

There was a need for yet another move to a bigger place as the plot had no more capacity for the multitudes. The tent was moved to a place called Vynbos where it is presently situated and still because of the great influx by both locals and people from other towns, cities and provinces.

God be praised for such a powerful and fulfilling place of worship. People are testifying of the way their lives have changed through attending Pastor Ntiwane’s services. We praise you Jehovah!
