Mommies Kitchen started with a passion to introduce little ones to new flavours and real food, to ensure that your baby can one day fall into your family’s regular meals and not be fussy eaters. We want children to grow up with a love for good and healthy food, full of flavour!
During this process, we noticed two areas that are of utmost importance:

The increased occurrence of toddlers and young children with food allergies; and the major concerns related to the food we buy in supermarkets on a daily basis.

Raw ingredients have been genetically modified, sprayed with toxic pesticides and grown using chemical fertilisers. Not to mention all the food additives (leading not only to food allergies, but also to major illnesses) that has been flung into every product on the shelf. Even foods previously seen as perfectly healthy contain a vast amount of harmful hormones and chemicals, which in the long run will have a major impact on your baby’s health. As a mom, the responsible thing to do would be to ensure that your baby only consumes food that you know is organic.

In South Africa the organic food market is still growing, however it is also very cumbersome and expensive to obtain organic certification; therefore many of the smaller producers, (who produce some of the best organic foods!) cannot be certified organic. We source our raw ingredients from certified organic; or otherwise non-certified organic producers. We have included links to all our suppliers, and we believe in transparency, and that you should learn to always know exactly where your food came from. * We emphasise here that because many of our suppliers are non-certified organic, Mommies Kitchen also cannot be certified organic at present, however we are working toward finding 100% certified organic suppliers.

So we are going back to our roots, back to where grandma made baby puree using the vegetable from her own garden!
