CAVEMAN CAFÉ

Conrad Stoltz, aka The Caveman, recently retired and inducted in the XTERRA Hall of Fame, will be channeling his passion and expertise into the Caveman Café at the new Specialized Stellenbosch bike shop.

Culture:

The relaxed and social aspect of the coffee shop culture (along with the welcoming buzz of one of the few legal performance enhancing drugs out there) has become an integral part of my life as a professional athlete. I’m very exited to carry forth this tradition and share my personal experience, passion and knowledge with the local community.

At Caveman Café we aim to be an everyone-welcome rider-meeting place. A hub where riders get together, fuel up before - or unwind & recover after rides. One can visit the first of its kind Specialized store or workshop, watch events like the Tour de France or UCI XC or Downhill events on the giant screen TV, or relax with the family on the large patio adjoining the kids playground.

Child friendly: Outside seating features pram (stroller) parking, enclosed play area, sand pit and a rubber kids bike track with free kids bikes…

Coffee:

First and foremost: We are passionate about coffee. Really passionate. We strive to lovingly craft the best cup of coffee you’ve ever tasted.

In that, I could not have hoped for a better partner behind the counter than our chief barista - Wian-David Slabbert. His two big passions in life are Coffee and Cycling. Turning 20 this December, Wian already has mountains of experience as a full time barista. He is also a gifted road racer who excels in the mountains, and, aspires of racing for a Pro Tour team one day. Not surprisingly, he dreams of his own roastery & shop... #Koffieman, with his keen and boyish grin, has kindly been donated to us by my coffee mentor, Carl, from Deluxe Stellenbosch.

Beans & roast: Deluxe House Blend. The finest Brazilian, Guatemalan and Ethiopian hand selected coffee bean varieties. Blended and roasted at Deluxe daily to obsessive standards. Full-bodied, full-flavoured, and smooth. Our tool of choice is the iconic La Marzocco Linea PB coffee machine, to lovingly craft you the perfect coffee every time.


Food

The menu is carefully formulated to cater to cyclists. Whether it is fuelling up on quality food & snacks before or after a ride, getting your caffeine buzz on before going Strava-ing, or enjoying a social cappuccino and hard earned cake with friends.

“Normal people” will also enjoy the healthy, tasty options, which include Banting, raw, and chocaholic choices. All our items are carefully taste budded and compiled by myself and #PrincessHotstuff from our travels to training meccas around the world.

We choose and prepare each menu item for optimum health and taste. We home make many of the items, so you’re guaranteed quality, freshness and taste.
