The history of Auto Car
Auto Car was founded 1972 by the late South African Volvo Legend Apie Kruger. Auto Car was first established as a Service Centre for not only Volvo's but every car on the market. It was out of his great passion for Volvo that Apie became known as the go-to Volvo man not only in the Rustenburg area but all over South Africa.
After gaining the respect of many enthusiasts through Motor Racing along side his brothers Gert and Hans Kruger, Auto Car Service Centra gained quite a following and the workshop grew into a well known business in Rustenburg.
In 1990 the company moved into its current 2000 sqaure meter under roof facility in Zinniaville, Rustenburg and changed its name to Auto Car Panelbeaters. It was in 1992 that Apie's sons - Jaco and Derrick Kruger joined the family business and started their journey in the Motor industry. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength as it accomplished many achievements in the Motor Repair industry.
In the late 90's Jaco Kruger also took up the sport of Motor Racing in the form of Oval track Racing and in 2000 managed to win the South African Super Modified Saloon class under the main sponsorship of Auto Car panelbeaters and the guidence and technical knowledge of his father Apie Kruger.
Through the integrity and personal attention of Apie Kruger and his sons, the company became known as one of the few honest and reliable panelbeaters in Rustenburg. It gained many clients over the years that still to this day return to this much loved family establishment. In 2014 Apie Kruger passed away at the age of 65 due to illness, and left this legacy in the hands of his wife Joey, three sons and daughter.
Since Apie's passing, Jaco and Derrick Kruger have filled these great shoes and have renovated and upgraded the facility into a true contender in the Auto Body Repair Sector. Many years of continued loyalty and perfection lies ahead for Auto Car.
